Outdoor Security on Steroids

The Ring Floodlight cam is the face of evolution in the home security market.  It is a motion-activated HD security camera with two built-in LED floodlights, a 110 decibel siren alarm, digital HD video and two-way audio, to hear and speak to anyone on your property from anywhere.

In addition the Ring Floodlight cam is equipped with object and facial detection.  The next perp making a beeline for your home is going to regret it for the rest of his life. Its floodlight camera has extremely advanced motion sensors and gives it a  270° field-of-view, which pretty much will cover everything in front of your home or yard.  The wide field of view and its superior object and facial detection technology with superb motion sensing abilities makes it really accurate at  detecting motion around corners and snooping at various blind spots.

Ring Floodlight Cam - motion detection

The Ring Floodlight Cam comes with two-tier motion detection ; Passive infrared sensors that sense objects and the camera sensors that detects humans. The free Ring app lets you customize the sensitivity of your motion sensors for both the camera and the infra red sensors, so  that you can find your ideal setting.

Monitor every nook and corner of your property

In addition to being equipped with two LEDs, the Ring Floodlight cam is Wi-Fi capable. The security camera has full HD capabilities : 1080HD. The Ring Floodlight Cam app will set up your motion alerts on your smartphone. You can use it to create schedules for the camera, set up security zones and even control the 110 decibel bark of the device.  The Ring Plans start at $3 per month and are thankfully contract free. You can choose to view your saved video history on the Ring App as well.

  • Dual sensors with object and facial detection
  • Ultra wide-angle motion sensors
  • Customizable motion zones and scheduling

Setup and Controls

Ring Floodlight cam - free ring app

The Ring Floodlight Cam connects to standard junction boxes and thus can easily supplement or even replace existing security lights. The smartphone app lets you flash the lights, sound the alarm and zoom-in to focus on any item in the HD camera’s field of view.

As soon as the the Ring Floodlight Cam detects any motion, it sends instant alerts to your smartphone or even your PC or tablet. You can then use the free Ring App to speak to, flash the lights or set off the piercing alarm to protect your home and property.

What could be better in the Ring Floodlight Cam?

The Ring Floodlight cam would have been an even better buy if it had just a tad of free cloud storage built in its package price.  Even an hour of back up on the cloud would have made this really powerful.

The other issue is integration. Even though the device is IOT compatible, Ring has not leveraged its many smart home partners to make the device talk to those partner devices or networks. We hope it is only a matter of time when that limitation is removed.

The good news however, is that the Ring Floodlight Cam connects with smart devices and hubs, such as Samsung SmartThings and Wink and is IFTTT compatible as well.
